Hooked

Pump House Fun

34
Well after surfing all day the previous Friday, I was a little sore and sunburnt, so when the Paul and Eric arrived and we loaded the ute up with boards and gear, I suggested that they can go for a surf while I’ll bum around the beach and give my shoulder a rest….off to sunny Ulladulla we headed. When we arrived down at Wairo and saw one lonely car parked and no sign of anybody else, it seemed like we drove down here in vain, and after climbing the steep steps up to the top of the sand dune, we could see some little offshore lines of swell left hitting the beach, and nobody in sight…..well not for long, 2 female surfers soon joined us, and one of them was riding a local made Mick Mackie ‘retro’ 5’6” diamond tail single fin kneeboard

Sorry for not actually asking her name, but as she mentioned, been riding a kneeboard here in the Ulladulla area for over 25 years and pretty much done her own thing and not chased club or contest’s or other kneelo’s company!

It was fun to sit on the beach and see this retro style kneeboard be ridden, nothing radical, just flowing along with the wave!

  2. Hey Tommy...Thanks!
I hear what your saying, so different meeting somebody that has ridden a kneeboard and have never crossed paths, She knew of a few mates of mine, but as she said to me , kept to herself and done her own thing....the board she was riding is a Mick Mackie board, he and Albert Whiteman use to shape out of the same factory down here in Ulladulla...Mick now makes these beautiful kneeboards, stand-up fishe's, rides a mat and the guy absolutly rips ( ex-pro) keen snowboarder and nicest guy..I would love to get a board off him!!!
I was so stoke when Eric was getting barrelled on my matt...its a shame Robbie can not see any sense in riding these surf matts, we have so much fun on these! his words are ' I rather ride a bodyboard, then one of those stupid mats'.....
