Friday

The Bank

First time trying a hand mounted camera, I went out on a mat initially, then after one wave I came in and swapped for a kneeboard as the waves were cracking and racing down the line.

Apart from looking like I am madly waving my arms around, the hand mount does give you a different view to what its like to surf a kneeboard, rather than a fixed mount on a board or mounted to a helmet can give.

Handy Cam Vision

A beautiful morning and I was the first one in the water, unfortunately I was soon joined by another dozen odd surfers, but there was still plenty to share around and I was happy with the vision I captured.

‘’ I was surprised how well the board went, still plenty of speed and turn quiet well, just did not have the whip that a modern thruster gives you ‘’

After the mornings surf on boards and a quick coffee and bite to eat, it was off to another location away from the crowds , and a chance ride my mat and hand plane.

Hey, Adam

The red board is a cruiser. It will go fast and catches waves unreal, but hard to get in the rail. I need to keep a lot of wt/ pressure on the tail A unique feel and lots of fun More like riding a "Mal" kneeboard Looks like you have been scoring some waves Wayno

My reply….

same as what I find with my one, brilliant to ride on large 3/4 face walls such as Green Island and Learners, but lacks the turning ability that a modern 3-5 finner will give. I have been riding everything of late and enjoy the difference in all of them, but when I want to surf rail to rail with speed I pick up the Drift, when happy to cruise and draw my turns out, its the bonzer, and your right, I call it my Malibu Kneeboard!

  1. Great to see the different angles adam that the pole gives you when riding on the wave! which one is the easiest? kneeboard, hand plane, mat? looks like you guys have been getting a lot of surf too. we also have had lots of surf but the early morning winds have been thrashing some otherwise good swell energy! stoked on your new angles!

  2. Its a glove mount Tom, so when riding a board your hands are free to wave about madly, with the mat your restricted more but still gives a different veiw over the helmet mount, all fun at the end of the day! Have been trying different angle in readiness of our trip to Sumatra which is only a few months away in October. This year has just flown...somebody get their finger off the fast forward button!!!!! Thanks again mate.
