With Paul and Family on holidays in Fiji , we were down to just Phil, da Bolt and myself to wave the flag for SCUMM.


The swell was small but super clean with a brisk offshore wind blowing , so after a quick drive around , we found a nice little bank all to ourselves with plenty of little barrels to play in.





I rode my timber paipo , whilst da Bolt and Phil both rode their Krypto surf mats and we were able to slide  inside  these little crystal cylinders. Heaps of fun even though it small !

I have been asked a few times about my timber paipo (sqiuz stix)….its 4’5” long x 15”wide










made from Paulownia wood by Pete Harrington










, its has a fair bit of rocker to it , with a distinctive hull bottom with flutes running off the last third of the board.







My son also owns one of his Alaia’s , which has no rocker







It has bevelled rails and a distinctive bottom concave





These sled’s were both made from Paulownia wood and originally coated with a polyurethane and for maintenance , I oil the boards regularly with a mixture of Linseed and Pure Gum Turpentine
