Well after a huge workload and a great dose of the flu , I was finally able to get back in the water for a surf and as usual , it’s a Friday ! So after missing last weeks Bay Swell and knowing that there was waves to be had down at one of my favourite haunts, it didn’t take me long to throw the 5’10” Drift kneeboard in the back on the ute and 15 minutes later I pulled into the empty car park of my Back Rabbitt …well plenty of swell hitting the point and a nice left reeling down over the reef towards the beach, but why is nobody out?
Wonder what’s it like on the other side of the hill? so back in the ute and , thru the muddy track and I knew where everybody was….and as I was standing there, another 6 surfers came sliding pass me and down the muddy track to the water and another 4 guys running up along the rocks….bugger this, its getting crowded and the swell had a touch too much north in it anyways……yeah right!
St Georges Basin Point
As I slid my way back to the car, more guys were arriving and amongst them was friends Wee-Man and fellow kneeboarder and Legless.tv founder , Chayne Simpson…Have fun fella’s , I’m heading back to the beach , which only had one other surfer out by then!
Black Rabbitt Left’s
the Drift has the standard 3 fin setup…way different sound to the Harddartz that has only channel’s and keel’s
thru the Looking Glass
Saturday morning arrived and so did the rain, so after checking out Black Rabbitt with old mate Eric, and seeing there was already half a dozen guys out enjoying the offshore conditions, I suggested that we look over at the Other Side…and I was keen to get back on my kneeboard from Harddartz!
Harddartz Fun
With nobody out and such a nice left/right setup, we had a great time out there, and it only took another 2 hours before we were join by 3 young grommet’s, so by the time we got out and walked back to the car , another 3 car loads of surfer’s arrived…now that was timing ! After some breakfast at Cuddie Shop, it was back to Black Rabbitt for another surf check and a later surf.

The rain didn’t worry the local Rozella’s
and there was rights as well
Sunday morning brought the sunshine back, and we were back down at first light, but it was thick with a new swell rolling in and the ocean had sea sickness, so after paddleling out, the fresh onshore southerly blew thru and and chased us back in before 8.00am.
