Surfing With Da Blue Headed Seal 12.7.14

So there I was happily sliding away at mat reef this morning when suddenly up pops the playful "blue headed seal" This endangered South Coast mammal will often cruise the line up looking for tasty tubes.
After a look around it headed off to the outer reefs his natural home, such a friendly little fellow he is. Ar Ar Arrgh.

Bay Tales

A few slides with da Bolt last Saturday Morning

Well the super swell that was supposed to hit the East Coast was a bit of a fizzer down here on the South Coast, with the swell sweeping due south, and it missed a lot of places that had protection from the wind, so when I arrived down at White Sands and saw only a small, but totally uncrowded wave on the Inner, the call was to grab old mate Eric da Bolt , two mats and give these little waves a try out. We had a ball considering there was not a lot of length of ride, but  heaps of power generated by the shallow reef, and our hoots and laughs could be heard from the shore. A few other surfers finally did come out to join us, and thought we were just plain nuts, but in true SCUMM way, we just shrugged our shoulders!
Many thanks to Robbie for snapping a few pictures of us from the shore line!

It was great fun taking off next to the ledge, with the wave spinning down the line over the reef and then reforming back onto the sand….SCUMM FUN at its best!
