Well after having so much fun the last time we travelled down to Moruya, I made the call to travel down again on Sunday bright and early and see if we could score some waves at the wall ….bummer, the swell was too south and sweeping back past us, and apart from  the one lone SUP rider out there riding the dribblers , just not big enough, so it was off to Congo Beach for a look see!

Taking Eric’s advice to NOT turn off at the south head intersection, and continue on further down the highway as it would be quicker to reach our destination , yeah right , we finally hit the turn off to Bingi and Congo,and added another 8 click’s for our trouble, but never mind as its all part of the adventure, and besides I wanted to see what the swell was doing at Bingi Point and Meringo…..

So after a quick look around at Bingi, we finally headed back to Congo for a surf

Yep, were going out!



I had packed to boards, one was my Drift and the other was the harddartz, so when Eric said he was keen to ride the dartz with its keel / c channel setup, I opted for my MT5 surf mat , and went out for some fun slides in the crystal clean water …..water still cold though…ha!

There was only about 6 guys spread along the whole beach, and with the south swell not quite pumping in, we opted to join one of local surfers out on split peak over reef, and it was sure was a lot fun sliding down the faces with a nice offshore blowing , while Eric was having a ball on my dartz kneeboard. We surfed this close to 3 hrs, till the NE kicked in and started to blow it out, so with hungar pains in our stomach, it was off to Moruya Township for some food and coffee

Playing Peek-a-boo



After a great meal of salt and pepper squid and feeling full to the brim, our next stop on the way home was to Broulee , where there was a nice peak just up from the surf clubhouse, so Eric decided to give his Vespa RT and run while I opted to take some happy snaps and soak the sun up instead, and glad I did….he was soon joined by 4 clubbies on paddle boards and 2 SUP  riders, just a little too busy for the peak but still another under surf his belt to finish the day before finally heading home!





Get these guys a real kneeboard please!

This guy ‘pearled’ on the take off, while all Eric could do was grimace, as this wave peeled down the line unridden….I would have burnt him on the take off!!
