Solstice Sunday
"either of the two times in the year, the summer solstice and the winter solstice, when the sun reaches its highest or lowest point in the sky at noon, marked by the longest and shortest days."
Well its winter down under and I was lucky to score one of my favorite reefs to myself on a sunny Sunday afternoon , the wife did not have to work so after a great breakfast I snuck around a few bush tracks and arrived here.....

I took both my edge board and mat down and soon found that the mat was the better option to ride the waves that were on hand.
In between changing craft a father and son paddled over and after a short conversation they soon decided to leave me on my own!

Fast forward a week and the swell was pumping with a offshore wind. I took one look at in the dark , got changed and ran down the track with mat in hand. When I finally got to the keyhole to paddle out it occurred to me that maybe I had the wrong craft to paddle out and with my edge board back at home the mat was the only thing I had to ride, so after a break in the sets , I was able to sneak out on my 4GF Standard. I paddled my arse off and finally made it out the back and was joined by both Paul & Phil on their mats as well, another 2 board riders came out and shared waves for a couple of hours to the wind swung a tad too much side shore and after coming in once already to see where the boys were( Paul had gone back to the van to get changed) and paddled back out again so he could film some drone footage and by then I was totally tanked of energy but caught another couple before getting washed back in !
The Next Day
Sunday Morning and I am back! nobody in the carpark and there was still enough swell on the reefs , guess I have to surf solo?
Well had 2 hours before old mate Ric on his kneeboard and Kanga the footboarder finally joined me!
Bush Regeneration at its best! These grass trees are powering since the fires swept thru 6 months ago!
