Hawaiian Adventures

140

Its been a few weeks now since my wife Cathy and I have returned from trip over to the Hawaiian Islands. I virtually stepped off the plane at Sydney Airport after a long 10 hour flight, turned on my mobile phone and work calls and messages came flooding in. I was back to work the following day with just 3 hrs sleep, with my head and mind still reeling from the great 2 weeks we had there, with the hospitality, beautiful sunsets, friendship and pure Aloha firmly etched into my memory bank. Its taken me to now to finally catch up with all work duties and finally go thru all of my video and photo’s, and start to put together a little travel log from our trip.

Tropical twilights are short and intense,
Clouds on the horizon glow red and purple and a vivid orange sun dips quickly into the sea.Darkness descends and soon the sky is filled with sparkling stars and a great Pacific moon.
Its a memory to be treasured.

Mothers Day 2014

We enjoyed Mothers Day over in Waikiki , and decided to take a 45 minute helicopter flight with Makani Kai  , over the Island of Ohau taking in all the major sights and landmarks, followed by a relaxing swim at Waikiki Beach, then to finish the day with a  Hawaiian Luau at Germaines later that night.

I have compressed the 45 minute flight into little over 9 minutes on video , which I recorded with my Go Pro Camera and Canon 70D. I really recommend this tour , it was a blast and a really great way to see all the major sites on the Island, in such a short time frame….well worth the money spent for everlasting memories.

I have been lucky to travel to most of the Polynesian Islands since the early 70’s, and  have been to many a traditional night of culture , celebration , eating and drinking , but this show would have to be one of the best I have ever witness. With a touch of Las Vegas showmanship and presentation,  it was a great night showcasing the dances of all the Islands, getting the whole crowd involved and up on stage at certain times, with the all you can eat buffet of food, you end up hoping back on the bus feeling like one of those stuffed pigs .

The centre piece of traditional Hawaiian feast is the KALUA PIG , roasted in a deep pit known as a IMU, pictured below
