A New Adventure Begins

Monument Bommie

Nothing better than arriving at a secluded surf break to find it breaking and no one out …… just three good friends and a Ocean of Joy to share.

There was a huge sea mist rolling in and like the waves, it just needed the offshore wind to blow and clean things up.

048

Plenty of swell but the ocean was still sea sick from the previous nights onshore wind

Big loopy walls and speed runs, perfect for mats to tap the ride! I had caught a couple of fun ones and started to get a tad cocky, letting myself drift inside more before finally copping a set on the head and losing my mat

Another broken camera mount!

This cost me dearly…a broken nose and two black eyes.

After trying to duck dive a large set, I took the full impact to the head which broke the mount and with the safety leash attached to the helmet , the camera succeeded in smacking me fair on the nose , resulting in a  set of ‘raccoon ‘ eyes and one very sore neck for a couple of days

There was lots of bump and wobbles on the wave face but still plenty of energy to tap and ride, the last scene with me riding in and you will see the camera swinging freely from my helmet

I ended up paddling back out, minus the helmet and caught a few lefts while Paul paddled over to the right

Paul and I ended up having another fun surf on  kneeboards at Gilligans , whilst Eric had a paddle on his mat at another un named reef break .

Nothing better than home made pumpkin soup to warm the body up after a long days surf…put that cream down Eric!

John Mandybur in Bali

So off the Bali again with Terry Toweling and Crissy Brown and a quiver made up of a 9'-8" log,a 9'-1" High Performance longboard, a 5'-10" Fish, a 4' glass paipo, a 7'-2" Fire-Wire, and 2 4th Gear Flyer surf-matts. Crissy rode the Log and the Fish, Terry the 9'-1" and the 7'-2" and I rode the Paipo and a Mat. 2 weeks gos so fast, and before we knew it we had no time left to ride Balian or Madawie, so it was just Tugus and Old Man's. We had 4 days of watching the comp' 9 Foot and Single wich comprised of logs,body- surfing, retro short single-fins and ricefield jumping with motor-cross bikes. The art show and movies were great, as was the shapers forum. Good to catch up with old friends and new and I even got a new free tatoo. Terry learnt to ride a motor-scooter and crissy winged a bit...........actually a lot. We, meaning Terry, Gillbo' (who met us there) and myself went on an amazing push-bike ride from the volcano all the way down. An all-day adventure I would love to do again. No injuries or deseases were brought back, only big smiles.

Mount Batur, Bali. A happy and peace-filled day.

The Three Amigos take on Mt Batur for a Bali bike ride. Much fun a giggles!

    1. Hey Tom, more stupidly on my part , as my wife said...silly old man!
The waves were good and I wondered why on my second surf with Paul why I felt out of gas, till they pointed out the black eyes.
