WRECK BAY- CRYSTAL CYLINDERS
I have been venturing back out to my old haunt again , a place with many names. Some call it Summercloud Bay or Black Rock, while other’s call it Wreck Bay and with the mission on the hill overlooking the break, there is lots of frothing young kids 5 minutes walk away, so with good mobile phone reception available down on the beach its not very often you can get it empty and cranking, The not so forecasted days can still deliver some fun sessions with a minimal crowd.Slow down when entering the Mission….
Onshore , Messy & Kneelboarding
Friday morning was solid and onshore, but still had a few running from Learner’s. I filmed this with a glove mounted go pro camera for a different view on things. The current was horrendous and if you got clipped, you would get swept down past the peak into no mans land….needless to say the crowd was very minimal!

Monday Morning Long Weekend.
With the Bunnies winning the footie ( ARL) grand final the night before, there was hope of a sneaky solo session, but on entering the car park at daybreak, and with two there vehicles already there, that hope soon disappeared , but overall a fun session riding surf mats, the waves were lucky to be 2-3ft and a small local crew to share with!

Wednesday afternoon, nearly offshore and some fun 3ft+ sets coming thru. It was good to see some old faces and a fairly cruizey local crowd. I caught a few waves with my kneeboard but decided to go in and grab my mask and snorkel for some filming from the water.

Awesome! I love the under water shots of the waves, especially the last few on the post! Also the footage from crystal cylinders of the lid coming at you and then the wave and you goes underwater and you can see the lid and underwater clearly! awesome stuff.. the early bird gets the worm....
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom, I have nearly forgotton how much we love this place!
DeleteThe water was nearly crystal clear the day I jump in and filmed, its a different view from under the water for sure, I really enjoy filming as much as surfing on the clean days.
Makes us appreciate what we have on our doorstep and where we live!
