Another Classic Day down at the Fun Park ……
Knee Riding from Learner’s thru to the Peak

Thursday 16th October 2014
The Summer Cycle has begun with plenty of South East Swell and North East Winds , perfect conditions for one of my favourite waves , Wreck Bay , or more so Learners, which runs from a point and into the main Peak , enabling you a very long left hand wall and the chance to backdoor the Peak and pop out the other side. The main Peak pictured below with Learners to the left
Beautiful Pigeon House Mountain and surrounds always makes a fantastic backdrop to the surfing action in the foreground….all that is missing is some palm trees and you would swear you were surfing somewhere in Indonesia !
Its way easy to walk around the back of the point and jump in and paddle back round to the take off spot.
Entering the Peak
Plenty of Power and Speed to Burn
A loose one sneaks past the crowd unridden
Plenty of wall for slide 360’s
and the Right is not bad either, I had ridden this from Learners and the Left had started to out run me, so I cutback right and got the push from the blowout of the barrel as I came off the bottom

Boogie Bowl Action
This is some video that I filmed with my Go Pro mounted to my helmet , shot at the 240fps slow mo setting, It gives you a chance to see what its like to run from Learners thru to the Peak, and as you can see its such a fun wave to ride. There was only about 20 odd surfers on the main peak, with a couple of sticker boys in the line up being filmed, so I was quite happy to paddle over to Learners and get wave after wave to myself, whilst the rest of the crew scratched it out on the main Peak.

Vinnie Boat Ramp
Wednesday 15th October 2014
Yes another Bay Swell and this is the 5th time the boat ramp has broken for the year. With the low front sitting off the coast and was very well predicted on all the surfing sites , the Bay broke right on cue with the forecast and so every man and his dog was hitting the other 2 main breaks, the Bombie and Sailors Grave, which was twice the size, but I was on the hunt between jobs and only had a small window of time before heading back to work, so when pulling up and only seeing 2 guys out and a great set peel thru unridden, well its a no brainer eh?Go Pro Vision again from my helmet

Pics by Brian Manahan
So after surfing great waves during the week, Brian decided to come down and join us for a paddle. We were hoping to get the mats out again, but after seeing waves peeling from Learners again, both Brian and myself stayed on knee boards whilst Eric being the Mat Man he is, took out his or should I say my trusty 4GF Omni surf mat. Not as big or clean as the previous Thursday afternoon, but sure was alot fun surfing my ‘rail ‘ thru the crowd , with a good backdoor barrel to put a smile on my face for the rest of the session. After surfing for over 3 hours we were well and truly stuffed , but nothing a pie and coffee wont fix!
