Kneelo’s Breakfast

058

I received a couple of messages this morning  asking if I was heading out to Shelly’s for a wave ,and as the forecast looked good and my work schedule could be shuffled to suit, so it was a easy decision to swap my work tools for a board and flippers and head on out. As I walked around the corner of the reef I saw Chayne taking off on a nice righthander, followed by another kneelo on the next wave. By the time my gear hit the beach I counted 4 knee men in the water and surf photographer Robbie Slater standing down the right side of the peak taking pics. There was already a cruisey crowd of surfers in the water and 3 feet plus of swell, so I was happy to indulge my self on the lefthanders , whilst the kneemo’s all went right giving Robbie a chance to snap a few pics of them riding the ramp.

I spoke to Rob briefly before paddling out and asked if he mine taking a couple of pics of me ‘wallowing on the shoulder ‘ and ‘dodging barrels’ with a promise from me that I would stay away from the rights and his photo shoot , which he kindly obliged and sent me these

This one wave below, showing me going backwards over the falls really screwed me over, just scraped the reef with my head and ragg dolled me under water , injuring my neck and shoulder again…..this kept me out of the water for over a week and a trip to my Chiropractor….ouch

I jumped into the water to do some filming with my Go Pro and only captured a few rides before getting out , as my shoulder had started to give me some grief and the current kept sweeping me back into the impact zone

NO COUNTRY FOR COLD MEN – TRAILER

NO COUNTRY FOR COLD MEN - TRAILER from STOKE MACHINE on Vimeo.

Doing a film on a surfer, booger and kneeboarder requires a decent dose of the absurd, which we here @ ZION have in abundance. Chasing the untouched crest to the coldest corners of the earth above all else requires a reasonable amount of absurd. Powered by all this absurdity and a eye for fleeting moments of beauty we bring you No Country For Cold Men, a moderate to highly absurd modern day multi craft pilgrimage exploring the upper echelons of cool. And by cool I mean icy bone rattling cold. If you dig icy realms and anything remotely absurd then come to the World Premiere and Icelandic winter feast.
