Surf mat adventures last Sunday morning, with Paul and I deciding to go out to Wreck Bay for a slide on the reef
Mean while, at the same time, a few hours drive south of us, Phil was hooking into some great beach break bazza’s, followed by a relaxing FABBA concert, where he was invited up on stage…..girls just love men who ride mats!!
Phil’s Sunday Slides below
So whilst Phil was pulling into some nice clean barrels, we were out on the reef, enjoying some slightly onshore but totally fun waves on our mats, with just 3 other local crew for 2 hr's...no post FABBA performance though, just some nice egg n bacon rolls and coffee!

Going up the Country
Paul was kind enough to get out of the water and grab my 70D to record some action from the land..many thanks Paul Newman!

Maybe not exactly FABBA, but certainly toe tapping material.

It’s all in the hands
MT with a nice mackerel and tuna , note the shark bite near the tail of that tuna.Mark the Maestro
Look at where his hands are on the mat….inside hand flat on the deck, with the outside hand gently squeezing the rail
Head and shoulders down for maximum speed
inside hand still flat on the deck, gentle outside rail lift
swivel those hips and lift that outside rail , inside leg rudder
top turn..reverse the hand placement and twist those hips, pivoting off the outside leg

Yew! a Mattie will help you out for sure, just spend time in the water surfing it and it will come together. Mixing your surfing up with different craft is way fun, was super keen to ride my spoon again yesterday, but it was only about 3ft, so the mat was the go. Still keen to ride my knees and was talking to Neal about bonzers yesterday, so a new board might be on the cards down the line
